2020 Performance Report
Despite an extraordinary year of challenges and change, our volunteers have proved their ability to be there when Kiwis need it the most, whatever the situation. Now, in anticipation of our Annual General Meeting, I'm proud to highlight their stories in our 2020 Performance Report.

- Quality New Zealand lifejacket manufacturer Hutchwilco comes on board as a Coastguard partner.
- Lion Foundation Rescue launches as the first purpose-built heavy Rescue Vessel in the Coastguard fleet to service the demand of the Hauraki Gulf.
- Investment in the VHF network in Raglan, Doubtless Bay and Port Waikato significantly increased our ability
to help boaties in the southern reaches of the region.

- Foundation North increases it’s support of Capital projects with multi-year funding. This long-term partnership has delivered over $5,000,000 to our Capital Expenditure Programme since 2008.
- The ARAFA legislation passes in Parliament, guaranteeing CNR support from Auckland Council ratepayers to deliver on our mission.
- Suddenly in Charge launches, aiming to educate those who spend time on boats but have limited knowledge of what to do in an emergency.

- Patron of Coastguard, HRH Prince Charles, visits the Auckland Marine Rescue Centre during a
whirlwind tour of NZ.
- After 75 years of Private Rescue Vessels, Coastguard’s last PRV Kyrenia signs off for the final time.
- The Old4New Lifejacket upgrade is launched at boat ramps and key community locations in partnership with Hutchwilco, the Giltrap Group and Maritime New Zealand.

- CNR rolls out a new training matrix (including MOSS) to provide significantly increased structures around training for our volunteers.
- Coastguard launched a brand new app, enabling boaties to do a trip report without picking up the radio.
- Volunteers from CNR Comms, Papakura and Waiuku, alongside partners agencies, are nominated for an International Maritime Rescue Federation award for a rescue on the Waikato Bar. Heading to London for the awards, the team were delighted to receive the People’s Choice Award.

- On March 7th 2020, CNR volunteers voted to move forward with Project Horizon and merge the regions into one national organisation.

2020 Annual General Meeting
Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of members will be held at the Auckland Marine Rescue Centre, Mechanics Bay, on Tuesday 22nd September 2020 at 1900 hours. With the advent of Project Horizon, this will be the final Northern Region AGM - it'll be a great chance for us all to reflect on the last 12 months and the impact we've all made.
