Lottery

How does buying a ticket support Coastguard?
When you purchase a Lottery ticket, you’re contributing to life-saving missions on the water. The funds raised enhance the capabilities of our volunteer Coastguard search and rescue units by providing essential equipment, training, and support.
Our volunteers dedicate their time to rescue those in distress, assisting countless individuals annually. Thanks to them, many people are safe today who might otherwise not be. This heroic work is made possible by supporters like you.

How can I buy a ticket?
Tickets are available online, by phone, or by post. Visit our current Lotteries for details, or join our mailing list to receive notifications when our lotteries open.

Becoming an Autobuyer?
We know time can get away from you.  Before you know it, the lottery has closed, and you didn’t have a chance to get online and put your order in. Don’t worry, we have you covered – become a Coastguard Autobuyer!

As an Autobuyer, you will get an email at the start of the lottery reminding you that we are about to charge your credit card and send your order of ticket/s. This 7-day advance notification gives you a chance to amend your order if you want to.

At any stage during the lottery, you can cancel your Autobuyer ticket/s and get a refund. You can also cancel your Autobuyer subscription at any time (but we hope you don’t do that).  As an Autobuyer, you’ll also automatically be entered into the exclusive Autobuyer Cash draw for the lottery that you’ve purchased tickets in.

Being an Autobuyer is safe and secure, it’s a fast way to secure your ticket/s for each lottery of the same ticket value ie: set up an auto-buy for a $25 ticket lottery and you’ll automatically be entered into other $25 lottery draws (we have two a year). It’s your set and forget option for supporting Coastguard, and you’ll never miss your chance to win again.

To set up your own Autobuyer subscription phone our friendly 24/7 team on 0800 568 879 or follow the prompts when buying your tickets online.

Can I receive my tickets by email?
Absolutely! Choose the email option on the online form, inform our customer care team by phone, or tick the box on the order form. It’s convenient, eco-friendly, and saves Coastguard money—everyone benefits!
Sometimes, emails might end up in your spam or junk folder. To ensure you get future e-tickets, add [email protected] to your address book, mark us as a safe sender, or move any e-tickets from your spam/junk folder to your inbox.

Do I need to be a New Zealand citizen or resident?
Not at all! You can buy tickets and win prizes regardless of your visa status. However, note that prizes must be delivered within New Zealand per our licences, so make arrangements if you win but don’t live here.

What happens if I win a prize?
We’ll be in touch! We’ll call to deliver the good news and send an email or letter to confirm your win. Ensure all your details are accurate on the order form, as sometimes we don’t have contact information for winners.

Are Lotteries allowed to sell on the internet?
Yes. Coastguard conducts lotteries that are considered by the Department of Internal Affairs as being "Class 3" lotteries, Class 3 lotteries are allowed to be sold over the internet.

Are each of your Lotteries licenced?
All charities are required to apply to DIA for a lottery for each lottery they run once it has prizes worth over $5,000. Coastguard is no exception, and we always show the licence number in the terms and conditions.

How do you draw each Lottery?
Coastguard draws the lotteries at our Marine Rescue Centre in Mechanics Bay, Auckland with NZ Maritime Police in attendance. The draw is conducted by marble sequence and is open to the public. So, if you can, why don't you come on down and see the action - you never know, we have had winners at the draws in the past.

How do I reach the Lottery team?
Call 0800 568 879, email [email protected], or write to Coastguard Lotteries, PO Box 4498, Shortland Street, Auckland 1140.

Here are the results from recent Coastguard lottery (raffle) draws. Winners will be contacted by the Coastguard lottery team.
