We are very proud that one of our own, Tony Lister, was awarded the Coastguard Volunteer of the Year 2012.  As a result of this award Tony was able to visit the RNLI in the UK and bring back valuable learnings for our volunteers.  That year we also won the Coastguard Rescue of the Year for our collaborative rescue of a yacht in distress with the local port company.

Coastguard South Canterbury was started in 1994.

This unit has a volunteer crew of 14 who are trained in search and rescue operations.
