Coastguard Kawau was established in 1998. We are based at Sandspit, just outside of Warkworth, approximately one hour north of Auckland.

We have an operational area that stretches from Bream Tail in the North to just north of Whangaparāoa in the south.  This includes Kawau Bay, Kawau Island, Mahurangi Harbour and Omaha. To the seaward side we extend out to the twelve mile limit; to include both Little and Great Barrier islands as well as fishing spots such as the Mokohinau Islands, Anchorite Rock, and Horn Rock.

We average around two callouts per week and we regularly post our activities on our Facebook page.

We are happy to take volunteers as long as you live within 20 minutes of Sandspit, just contact us via the contact page.

We are also currently fundraising for a new boat and donations can be made direct through the president or you can use our Give a Little page.
