Haere Mai 'Lensesonline Rescue'

Coastguard Titirangi recently welcomed new vessel 'Lensesonline Rescue' to the unit.

The unit held a blessing and launch ceremony on Saturday 1 May which saw Coastguard volunteers from neighboring units Papakura, Auckland and Waiuku, as well as the local Fire Brigade and the community coming together to witness as the new twin 7.8m twin outboard Naiad was blessed by a kaumatua from West Auckland iwi, Te Kawerau A Maki.

This vessel will greatly lift the units capability to respond to incidents on the water. With a total engine power of 500hp, this level of power gives the rescue vessel more aptitude compared to other vessels of a similar size.

This boat is a great addition to the Coastguard fleet, which will enable the Titirangi unit to travel out to the 12 mile limit and into the Hauraki Gulf to help boaties and water-goers in need.

Coastguard regularly responds to incidents on the treacherous Manukau Bar, so it's vital our units have capable vessels on this dangerous stretch of water.
