Coastguard Dunedin was officially started when concerned locals formed a group known as Harbour Rescue Inc in early 2006.

We became a part of Coastguard New Zealand on 25th March 2006 when we were officially launched as Coastguard Dunedin with our first Coastguard Rescue Vessel, a 6.8m Naiad on loan from Coastguard New Zealand.

We purchased our 8.5m Protector second hand from Coastguard Waihi Beach in 2012.

Our current major project is to work with our local boating club on a joint building project as we currently operate from the workshop of one of our volunteers and the Portobello fire station hall.

Visit our About Us section for more information on our unit's VesselSponsors and how you can Contact Us.
